GENUINE

BE YOU
Most of my art is a reflection of what’s going on in my life. When I created the “Be You” WordPearl™, I was missing my Mom and remembering some of our conversations. She would often tell me,

“Be true to yourself and what you know is right. And, whatever
you do, make sure that you do it to the glory and honor of God.”

I heard what she said, but it didn’t really sink in until someone asked me to give the “story behind my business”.

TRANSPARENCY
I struggled to respond with a story I thought people wanted to hear. The initial story I created was fake because I tried to give my story without including my commitment to let my light shine so that others could see God in me.

So, here’s my genuine story: I’m an artist and designer on a mission to spread the love of God through my work! I’m determined to be transparent and give my all as I create art, jewelry, and cards using unexpectedly, surprising combinations of everyday items. Being transparent/genuine has resulted in the creation of products that truly mirror my commitment. I promise to “BE ME”: genuine, real and not counterfeit.

SURPRISE HUMMUS
So, here’s a real Deb-Created-Recipe where I used lots of unexpected stuff. Enjoy!

hummus_blog4

-1 15oz can of garbanzo beans
-1/4 cup tahini sauce
-2 tablespoons greek yogurt
-the juice of 1 lime
-1 bunch of cilantro
-6 spinach leaves
-1 clove of garlic, finely minced
-2 tablespoons of sundried tomatoes
-a little fresh mango, chopped
-2 tsp olive oil
-salt and pepper to taste

I have a “Magic Bullet”, and I just threw everything into it and kept pulsing until it was all combined. The hummus is garnished with some spinach leaves, sundried tomatoes, and mango. Serve with your choice of chips. (The recipe is called surprise-hummus because I kept adding things as I went along…it is good, though!)

WHAT’S THE POINT
Be You, genuine, and transparent, put God first, and watch everything fall into place.
